The Ugly Journey Of Our Trash

An absolutely staggering 250 million metric tons of plastic could find its way into the ocean in the next 10 years.

Do you ever wonder what happens to that plastic bag you see blowing in the wind, or to that food wrapper that’s been discarded at the side of the road? Sadly, we know what will happen to a lot of it — an absolutely staggering 250 million metric tons of plastic could find its way into the ocean in the next 10 years. As scuba divers, we see and feel the phenomenon first-hand, so we’re ideally suited to organize Dives Against Debris, or to just remove any plastic we see on a dive. The best solution is prevention: find ways to use less plastic in your life — buy reusable grocery bags, don’t buy disposable plastic items —and dispose of what you do use responsibly.
