Luminox DEEP DIVE Automatic 1500

Luminox’s Deep Dive Automatic 1500 is a Swiss made wonder of a watch. This watch can resist harsh environments and deep depths of water without so much as missing a tick. The reasoning behind the Deep Dive’s design is the fact that they were made to be used by Navy SEALs. The goal was to create a small helpful device that could be worn throughout the day and come in handy when diving into depths of up to 1625ft (500 meters) deep. One of the best features of this watch is the valve equipped to let out helium while ascending back to the surface.

The reasoning behind creating a watch that could withstand up to 500 meters of water instead of the standard 200 meters was not only due to the challenge behind it, but to make a more rugged and robust watch that requires a thicker sapphire crystal and caseback to be able to keep the steel from deforming.

A few of the other features that are included with the Luminox Deep Dive Automatic 1500 are: luminescent green and blue lights along with nightvision tubes that help the time to be seen even in the darkest waters, the calendar date is shown on the dial that automatically moves, complete water resistance, and a locking system that keeps the bezel (metal ring holding the watch cover in place) from turning.

Along with all of the special features of the Deep Dive Automatic 1500 comes a stainless steel case that has a black PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating around it. This coating is important since its hardness can resist corrosion, weathering, and salt spray. The blackness is perfect for masking the watch itself during the initial dive and the sapphire glass added to the front is non-reflective so there is no need to worry about scaring any fish away or blinding someone with sun rays. For added benefit and ease, this watch comes with a Velcro strap inside of rubber which holds PU extensions for wetsuits.

This watch was produced in a limited, individually numbered amount that annually accumulates to only 500 watches. The Luminox Company itself is one of the most well known companies when it comes to professional diving watches. Each of the 1500’s come with a water resistant box in which you can store your cell phone, wallet, camera, and other valuables without having to worry about losing them while out at sea.

The testing behind the Deep Dive comes from Norm ISO 6425 which conducts special tests specifically for diving watches. Each individual watch is submerged in 625 meters depth of water for two hours and then tested for actual water resistance, which can take up to 3 and a half hours per 25 watches. So each individual that purchases one of the watches can rest assured that their watch is state of the art and worth the price they pay for it. Each watches glow could last anywhere between 10 to 25 years even when placed in complete darkness for over 24 hours.
