During my first visit to Kona, Hawaii in late November 2010, I had gone out on a few of the Manta Ray night dives. During my visit I had become facinated with Manta Rays and wanted to learn more about them. I decided a few days into the trip to take the PADI speciality course, to educate myself. I learned how to identify them, know how to tell what sex they are and much more. I took the course with Keller Laros who works at Jack's Diving Locker in Kona and is also the founder of the Manta Pacific Research Foundation. I believe that this is one of the only places in the world where you can get a PADi specialty in Manta Rays.
I then decided to go back to Kona in May of 2011 to try and see more Manta Rays during the famous night dive in Kona. I was happy to sit down with Keller to make a great video about Manta Rays, the Kona night dive and the conservation efforts that Keller went through to get Manta Rays protected in the State of Hawaii! Enjoy!
